Trip Kali Biru

Kali Biru, the Blue River, is a freshwater stream so clear and blue that you can see every stone on its bed. It flows through the forest of Waigeo Island near Warsambin village, at the mouth of Mayalibit Bay. Villagers call it the bathing place of the King of Waigeo, and they still look after it with respect.

This trip is run by the DAMPIER team. Every package includes the car, the boat to Kali Biru, the entrance fee, and a local Warsambin guide whose family home and customary land are there. From Waisai it is about an hour by road to Warsambin, then a short boat ride to the river. The car waits until you are back.

Choose the package for where you start. From Waisai is for guests arriving from Sorong or staying at a resort in Waisai. From Kri, return is for guests staying on Kri. From Kri, ending in Waisai is for guests checking out of Kri who stop at Kali Biru and are then dropped at the harbour or a resort in Waisai, up to 4 people because the longboat carries luggage.

Prices are per group of up to 5 people. That is the limit for a comfortable trip. Six in one car would be cramped, and two cars would raise the price per person. More than 5 people? Ask us on WhatsApp. The Raja Ampat tourism fee is not included.

The water is cool and calm, around 1.5 to 3 metres deep. The spring is sacred to the villagers, so swimming is only allowed in the river, not in the spring. Bring swimwear, dry clothes, a towel, non-slip footwear, insect repellent, and a dry bag for your phone.
