Our place

Kept today, for the generations to come

Raja Ampat is our home. Its sea, forests, and customs were handed to us by our parents, and one day our grandchildren will carry them on. This page is DAMPIER's care programme with our partner villages, so that a place this beautiful stays whole for the next generation.

The environmental conditions, programmes, and videos on this page are written by the team in Indonesian.

Partner growth fund

10%

of DAMPIER's share of every transaction is set aside for a partner growth fund. It is not handed out as cash but turned into goods for partners and their villages, and reported openly every quarter.

  • Starting with Starlink Mini for partners, so guests get quick answers.
  • Our goal is solar power for partner homestays and their villages.

Raja Ampat, from Waigeo to Batanta

The Dampier Strait between Waigeo, Gam, Mansuar, and Batanta is the heart of travel in Raja Ampat, with Piaynemo and Pam to the west. Pick an island to see the villages, homestays, and dive sites around it.

Terumbu karang Selat Dampier

Good

Good

How you can help

  1. Stay and travel with hosts from the villages. The money stays in the village, and 10% of DAMPIER's share of every transaction goes into the partner growth fund, for things such as Starlink Mini.

  2. Respect sasi. If a spot is closed, that is the village's decision, and your guide will take you somewhere else.

  3. Don't touch or stand on coral, don't feed the fish, and don't take anything from the sea.

  4. Bring your own water bottle, and take hard-to-break-down rubbish home with you. The islands have no rubbish trucks.

  5. Use reef-safe sunscreen, or wear long sleeves when snorkelling.

  6. Register and pay the tourism levy at sipari-rajaampat.id before you arrive, IDR 1,000,000 (≈ €50) per person for foreign visitors and IDR 300,000 for Indonesian citizens. Part of it funds sea patrols, reef rehabilitation and waste management in Raja Ampat.
